Fighting Hail at Agripark Valentina
Hail is one of the biggest threats to Georgian agriculture. To give you an idea—hailstorms destroyed 17% of Georgia’s grape harvest in 2021, and in 2012, damage reached up to 40%. These sudden storms can wipe out months of hard work in just a few minutes.
That’s why we’ve invested in hail cannons at Agripark Valentina. These innovative machines help protect our almond orchards from hail damage.
How do they work? When storm clouds start forming, the cannon fires shock waves into the atmosphere every 1 to 10 seconds. These waves disrupt the process that turns raindrops into hailstones, reducing the risk of hail reaching the ground.
We believe that combining modern technology with traditional farming is key to protecting our harvests and supporting sustainable agriculture in Georgia. March 21, 2025

Bud Formation: a Key Stage in Almond Growth
Our almond trees at Agripark Valentina have entered an important phase—the formation of buds. This marks the transition from dormancy to active growth, setting the stage for flowering and fruit development.
Types of buds on almond trees:
- Floral buds – these will soon produce blossoms, which are crucial for pollination and future almond yield.
- Vegetative buds – responsible for new branch and leaf growth, ensuring the long-term vitality of the tree.
Proper bud development is essential for a strong harvest. At this stage, we closely monitor weather conditions and apply precise care to support healthy flowering and fruit set.

Almond Trees & Valentine’s Day: A Perfect Match
Did you know that almond trees have a special connection to love? In many cultures, they symbolize hope, renewal, and lasting devotion—just like Valentine’s Day!
And here’s a fun fact: in some legends, almonds were considered a gift of love, representing good fortune and a strong bond.
As our orchard rests in winter, we look forward to spring, when the trees will bloom in delicate white and pink flowers—just like nature’s own Valentine’s Day celebration.
Wishing you a day filled with love, sweetness, and maybe a handful of delicious almonds!

Pruning Time at Agripark Valentina
Pruning almond trees isn’t just a routine—it’s an essential part of keeping them healthy and productive
✅ How often? Once a year, during the dormant season (late winter).
✅ Why is it important? It improves air circulation, allowing the branches to breathe and reducing the risk of fungal infections. By removing excess growth, pruning also helps sunlight reach all parts of the tree, ensuring even development.
A well-pruned tree means stronger branches, bigger almonds, and a healthier orchard overall.

Protecting Our Almond Trees with Copper
At Agripark Valentina, we are covering tree wounds with copper to protect them from infections and promote healthy healing. Copper acts as a natural fungicide, preventing harmful pathogens from spreading and ensuring strong, resilient trees for the next season.

Waiting for Spring
Right now, our almond orchard is still asleep, gathering strength for the new season. But soon, it will transform into a breathtaking sea of white and pink blossoms.
Spring is our favorite time of the year—when the orchard wakes up, buzzing with bees and filled with the sweet scent of blooming almonds. Until then, here’s a glimpse of past season to remind us of the beauty that’s just around the corner. January 28, 2025
Checklist: How to Tell if an Almond Tree is Healthy in Winter
✅ Bark Condition
Inspect the trunk and branches: the bark should be smooth, without deep cracks, rot, or peeling.
✅ Branches' Color and Flexibility
Gently bend a branch: a healthy branch is flexible and won’t snap easily. Healthy branches are light brown without dark spots or dryness.
✅ Buds Check
Examine the buds: they should be firm, small, and tightly attached to the branches. Dry or hollow buds could indicate an issue.
✅ Fungal Infections
Check for mold, moss, or fungal growth. These can be signs of excessive moisture or disease.
✅ Soil Condition
The soil around the tree should not be overly dry or waterlogged.
✅ No Physical Damage
Look for any damage caused by wind, animals, or improper pruning.
✅ Overall Appearance
The tree should have a symmetrical, sturdy structure. Excessive dried or broken branches are red flags.
Regular winter checkups ensure your almond trees stay strong and ready for the growing season!
